Temple University Rome, established in 1966, provides students from a variety of disciplines the opportunity to study in Rome for an academic year, semester or summer. Over its more than 55-year history, Temple Rome has maintained a strong academic and cultural program that takes advantage of the splendid resources Rome and Italy have to offer, both historical and contemporary.
When you study abroad at Temple Rome for the academic year, semester or summer, you have the opportunity to take courses in a variety of disciplines, complete a credit-bearing internship, volunteer, and participate in a rich student life that includes a diverse range of activities and engagement with Italians.
Courses taught at Temple Rome are specifically designed to enhance your understanding of your new surroundings. Many allow you to bring context and life to your studies through frequent on-site instruction within Rome and excursions to other cities, and by incorporating guest speakers and critics into the curriculum. Internships are also available. The program is open to qualified students matriculated at U.S. colleges and universities.
About Temple Rome
Temple Rome's caring, engaged staff and faculty and the support afforded to students truly distinguishes this program.
Emilia Zankina was appointed Dean of Temple University Rome in the spring of 2020. She brings over a decade of experience in international education both in the United States and Europe and a deep commitment to the liberal arts tradition.
Main campus' Education Abroad and Overseas Campuses Office and the staff of Temple University Rome work together to create an enriching experience for all students.
Temple Rome offers courses in a variety of academic disciplines, including GenEd courses and internships. Offerings vary by term and more courses are available during the semester when students are enrolled fulltime.
Temple Rome is housed in the Villa Caproni, a handsome building facing the Tiber River in the heart of Rome. Just north of Piazza del Popolo and within short walking distance of the Spanish Steps and the Borghese Gardens, the Villa Caproni is convenient to living accommodations and great for exploring many areas of the city, especially the historic center.
The Villa serves as the hub of all program activity, with classroom space, professional visual arts studios, a computer lab and wireless Internet system, students lounges, an art gallery, and the library, which is one of the largest English libraries in Rome. As you walk in, you will also find the offices of our dedicated administration and staff, most of whom have been working with Temple Rome students for many years.
