Description:
Aaren O’Connor was an alumna of Temple University Japan who tragically lost her life to a stray bullet in Chicago, Illinois. Aaren’s friends and family have established this fund in her name to provide annually a $1000 scholarship to students, Temple and non-Temple, participating in any Temple University study abroad program, with preference given to students who are residents of Chicago.
Students who apply for a Temple University Education Abroad program scholarship will automatically be considered for this award. These include the Non-Temple student scholarships, Temple student scholarships for Exchange Programs, Japan Semester, Rome Semester, Spain Semester, and Summer. Apply by completing the appropriate program application and essay, available within the online program application.
Eligibility Requirements:
- preference given to students from Chicago, IL
- open to Temple and non-Temple students
- must participate in a Temple program (including Temple Exchanges, but excluding External Programs)
- must meet the eligibility requirements for Temple Education Abroad scholarships: applicants must be full-time, matriculated undergraduates; have demonstrated financial need; have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.75; and participate in the respective Temple program.

Aligned with the scholarship deadlines indicated for Temple University Education Abroad scholarships: April 1 for fall/academic year programs; October 1 for spring programs; February 15 for summer programs.
